  • Handoff Communication has been linked to patient safety events across the world (Alizadeh-risani et al., 2024; Chung et al., 2022; Farzaneh et al., 2023; Sullivan et al., 2024).

    Standardizing handoff has been shown to improve patient safety (Alizadeh-risani et al., 2024; Chung et al., 2022; Farzaneh et al., 2023; Jeong & Eun, 2020; Persad et al., 2021; Pinto et al., 2025).

  • Originally developed by the U.S. military and later adapted
    for healthcare by Kaiser Permanente, SBAR provides a standardized approach to transmitting critical patient information by reducing miscommunication-related errors (Pope et al., 2008).
